After correcting my rule mistake in the last scenario, I continued my blind run of Drowned City. This scenario is called The Drowned Quarter. To give you a rough idea of where we are in the campaign, it would have been the second scenario if I had gone West. I think we're looking at one more scenario before the finale. As usual, this post contains spoilers, you've been warned.

Story

As the team continues its descent into the city of R'yleh, they find a gigantic dome of energy, some kind of shield that looks to be containing the flooding waters. A spinning device in the middle appears to be the key mechanism. Of course, our companion Ruby rushes in to take the artifact device away. At least, she had the decency of warning us to be ready to run. 🙄

Gameplay

The scenario map is laid out in a 3 x 3 grid. The core device is in the middle spot, and that's where the investigators begin. The goal is to have at least 6 Seafloor locations to be unflooded, it automatically flips the core to its active side. Important to note that the core itself is a Seafloor location. The twist is when you enter an unrevealed location, you have to increase its flood level and the level of an adjacent valid location. You can get these back down by spending clues. It's possible to run out of clues, but the core has an action to replenish some. I don't think there's any difference in the scenario coming from the East or the West.

Performance

I was one or two turns away from successfully completing the scenario, it was mostly down to card draw, I would say. If you draw multiple treachery increasing the flood levels, it can grind you down to a halt. Reactivating the core can be tricky as it spawns a big monster that will try to flood everything, I had no trouble dealing with it, but it slowed me down just enough. It was also the sole source of XP for this scenario.

I failed to translate a glyph inscribed on a relic, Agatha was plagued with two copies of a treachery preventing from interacting with glyphs. I didn't think I could spare the actions to remove them. Furthermore, I think there was a second glyph somewhere in the scenario, but didn't even found it.

No trauma for reaching no resolution, but each investigator had to erase one progress from their Task.
