Welcome to the blog

Hello and welcome to this blog! My name is Jeff, you might also have seen me online under the name Maljjin, and I like board games and table-top role playing games (TTRPG). This space recollects my experience and the stories told at the table, as well as many of the discussions that arise from playing board games and TTRPG.
You can expect to read here recaps of my solo adventures, interesting stories about the games I play weekly with my group of friends and the conversations these games generate about gameplay, design philosophy and even sometimes how it can apply more generally beyond the table. While you'll get my impressions of many games, you won't find full game reviews here. Neither, you will find detailed explanations of the rules and gameplay for any of the games I play. There are much more competent and dedicated people out there for these, I will even share links to them occasionally. My goal is more about sharing the joys, the lessons, and the fun we can have while playing. Maybe it will convince you to try a new hobby or a new game!
While I do like to think about money spell went, there won't be any buying guide or discussion about backing or not the latest trendy game. I will certainly raise concerns about the value of certain game propositions, but ultimately, what one person is willing to pay for a good or a service varies from person to another. The economists call this a person's “willingness to spend”. Oh yeah, I have a background in Economy, I'm sure this will come up regularly. You can also expect weird references to the world of Tech as my daily work is in IT.
The Arkham Horror LCG will be featured regularly. It's one of my favourite games, it plays really well solo two-handed and there's a lot of deck building theory crafting discussions to have. The nature of a living card also creates a constant re-assessment of our theories.
On the TTRPG side of things, don't expect detailed action replay from our sessions. Once again, it's more about the experience and the fun we have at the table, the cool stories we still reminiscent about years later. I also need to be careful about not spoiling anything, my players might be reading this. Sit comfortably in your favourite chair, put up your feet near the camp fire and stay tuned for our Tales of Cards and Meeples.
